We finally have a weekend we can go camping and canoeing !
We headed about 35 minutes from the house to Towns Bluff RV Park in Hazlehurst, GA. It is in a wildlife management area on the Altamaha River.
We were only one of 3 campers in the entire park. It was great. We decided to paddle about ten miles on the Altamaha River using a local shuttle service. The river was quiet and was moving slowly.....
This park also has a building which has supplies, souveniers and historical items about the area and the river. Very interesting and FREE ! You can launch your canoe/boat right from the park and we ended up at Benton's Steak House.....not too shabby !!
The park has a real clean bathhouse, laundry facilities. No stores that are very close by though. It is a locked gate at night while hearing nothing but birds and owls while we were there and a few deer walking through the park at times. Cost was $22 a night for water & electric - 30/50 amp set ups and plenty of room between sites and it will acommodate any size rig. There is a dump station there on the way out. There are only twenty-five sites in all.
See ya'll down the road !

May has been an interesting month, Part I
My son was able to come visit me for a week from Ft. Lauderdale. I was so happy to see him as it had been over six months since we last visited when I was down there in October of last year.
He always brings Enzo his loving dog.
It also happened to be my moms 83rd birthday and we took her out to Longhorn Steakhouse for her favorite meal of filet mignon.
Jeff and Larry got to go ATV'ing one day and the rest of the time we just visited.
Our April showers have brought us May flowers as you can see from the picture below my potted plants are looking awesome.
Guess that is it for this month, so far.
Have a Happy..........and we'll see ya all later !

May has been an interesting month, part II
It has been a busy month for us so far in May with friends visiting me and me visiting friends.......
First my friend, Sherry, came down from North Carolina with her grand baby, Willow. She is about fifteen months old and just learning to walk. She is just adorable.
Sherry and I also road our ATV's out back on our property often. (Not necessarily with the baby on board though..........)
Also we tried out our new pool chairs (Willow has her own of course).
Then Sherry and I drove over to Coward, South Carolina to visit with a friend of mine, Al, who has a farm there. He is an organic farmer. I wanted to learn how to drive a big tractor and to pull the double discs. So Sherry and I got to do that.
Sherry and I also love visiting cemeteries so Al took us to Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence so we could walk around and get some pictures of some of the statutes and markers there.
Visiting time was short-lived though and Sherry had to head back North and I had to head back to Soperton. But it has been a great month so far!
See ya all later.

April showers & all the rest
April is still bringing in some rain and cold weather but Jeff is moving right along with the front porch. Slower than he had hoped but weather and work hold you back sometimes.
Even though the pool temp is only in high 60's Jeff couldn't resist jumping in after a hard days work. He is first person to go in our new pool.........
Our friends, David & Donna, from North Carolina were able to stop by on their way back home to North Carolina and Jeff took them out back to ride our ATV trails.
It was a short visit but it was nice to see them again.
Everyone have a great spring & summer and Happy Trails !

Mistletoe State Park, Appling, GA
We are so lucky we get to go camping this 3rd weekend of March. We went about 2 hours away, NW of Augusta to Mistletoe State Park.
We arrived close to sunset and the pic below shows the view behind our camper. The next picture is our site, #41 which was a great site right on the water. This park is on Strom Thurmond lake. We stayed at a ACOE park a few years back on another spot on this very large lake, which was in Modoc, SC. It is a great park if you can ever get to it.
Most sites are nice and wide and long and a lot of them are right on the water. Really beautiful!
Behind our camper was a nice lagoon, where you can fish and my dogs could play in the water.
There is lots of boating going on here with many boat ramps. There is a swim area and beach shack for the summertime. There are pavillons you can rent for gatherings. Just a real nice park.
We also took a two mile hike, right from the campground area itself, with our two dogs. There are several others trails also, one totaling about 3 1/2 miles and another one over 8 miles.
It was a great, albeit, short weekend, but we'll take what we can get...........

Continuing the front Porch - March 2013
After being in our home two years we are getting around to starting to build the front porch.
We actually did the brick work and steps and concrete columns in October. Jeff started a new job that month and it has really occupied his time so he is just now starting on the porch again.
Hopefully he can start to get the roof boards down soon.
We can't wait to have a great porch to sit on. (As you can see my mom is already out there,
supervising the work!)

Asheville, NC - Feb. 2013
I went up to Asheville to visit my friend Sherry and help her and her daughter and grand baby move west to Canton, NC.
It was a 4 bedroom, 2 story house that we moved ALL by ourselves.....I thought it would take 3 days but it ended up taking us 5........WOW, we were really tired after that !
It was snowing and cold.........but we finally got it all done.
Some time for the grand baby (Willow) to have something to eat.
She IS adorable !!! But outside it is snowing.......brother, it is snowing........
Back at the hotel it is still snowing and cold..........
But we got the job done and I headed for home.........
