Bridges Family Reunion - Soperton, GA

The last weekend in June was the Bridges Family reunion. This is on my husband's side of the family. It was held on his uncle Mitchell's farm in Soperton.  The reunion was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We were only able to attend Saturday and Sunday.

Below are some pics, for those in the know, which isn't necessarily me - but after twenty years - I am still trying!

A good time was had by all. We missed all the morning games, but the kids loved them all and had a great time.

See Ya'll down the road !

Still in Atlanta - this is day two.........

On Saturday we get up early and have the full breakfast buffet at the hotel. Then we take the shuttle to the World of Coca Cola (which is next to the Aquarium).  It was so much nicer that I ever expected. I had such an awesome time. The coke tastings from around the would were VERY interesting. Boy, there are a few I wouldn't give my worst aquaintance !

Of course you gotta find the Polar Bear - we love those commercials in the winter!

There is a great 3-D movie there. So we all had to put on our glasses for the show.

So after all the movies, and tastings at the factory we headed out for a bite to eat with some cousins who leave outside Atlanta. They wanted to meet at The Vortex, which is known for their awesome hamburgers.

This place has such great burgers.......WOW......and the interior of the place has great stuff to look at (ok, I know you see the poster in the back.........)

Even the menu had some interesting suggestions written it. Look at the two I am showing you here!

Pretty darned funny we thought.........

We left on Sunday morning (after our buffet of course) and head back home to Soperton.......

See Ya'll down the road

Atlanta - Here we come !

My mother-in-law, Laura from South Florida is visiting with us for a couple of weeks. We were hoping to get in some swim time in the new pool but weather did not permit us to do so except maybe two times while she was here.

We did, however, make it off to Atlanta for two nights.  We stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Atlanta and had a beautiful suite.

We were right at the entrance to the Underground, but we did not go there as each night we got back it was very late........

We went on Friday to the Georgia Aquarium which was really interesting.  The huge tank that they have the whales in and the great Manta Rays was really awesome......They had black tipped nurse sharks and all kinds of other species in there.

In other exhibits and other parts of the aquariums we also saw some interesting creatures:

( See - they are pretty intersting! - hahahaha)

After a long day at the aquarium we headed out to eat at No Mas which is a Mexican restaurant. The food was great....We ALL had a good time.

Stay tuned for tomorrows activities............

Camping at Towns Bluff RV Park, Hazlehurst, GA

We finally have a weekend we can go camping and canoeing !

We headed about 35 minutes from the house to Towns Bluff RV Park in Hazlehurst, GA. It is in a wildlife management area on the Altamaha River.

We were only one of 3 campers in the entire park. It was great. We decided to paddle about ten miles on the Altamaha River using a local shuttle service. The river was quiet and was moving slowly.....

This park also has a building which has supplies, souveniers and historical items about the area and the river. Very interesting and FREE !  You can launch your canoe/boat right from the park and we ended up at Benton's Steak House.....not too shabby !!

The park has a real clean bathhouse, laundry facilities. No stores that are very close by though. It is a locked gate at night while hearing nothing but birds and owls while we were there and a few deer walking through the park at times. Cost was $22 a night for water & electric - 30/50 amp set ups and plenty of room between sites and it will acommodate any size rig. There is a dump station there on the way out. There are only twenty-five sites in all.

See ya'll down the road !
