Trip to Beaufort, South Carolina

My friend from south Florida (Sherry) and I took a short day trip over to Beaufort, SC.





We stopped at the visitor center to get some information about the city.



The information center is housed in a building that looks like an old fort, although it was never used as such. It only was storage for arms.

Since we only had the day in this quaint city, we decided to do a horse drawn buggy ride to get a quick synopsis of where we were and its history.

The house below is only one of the beautiful homes we saw along our ride.

We depart our buggy ride and look out over the inlet where there were lots of beautiful sailboats along the walk. It was a beautiful day and a nice day trip.

Home Sweet Home - it's coming along !

The fencing is done to keep the pups in and to keep other critters out. Now the dogs have lots of room to roam.....



Now that the deck is completed we started to think a little more about safety. Family members aren't always so sure on their feet, so we put down the black coarse treads to secure their going up and down the steps. We did this on both the front and back steps to the house.




The picture below is of the tile that we bought to put in our kitchen for a backsplash. I love the colors and the travertine tiles that are intermittently within the glass tiles looks great.





Here is Jeff below installing the tiles. Luckily I have a glass cutter on hand since we both do stained glass projects and it sure came in handy for those cuts that had to be made here and there.

Below are two pics of the final product. We got it all grouted now and it looks awesome !

Starting to get settled in...finally....

Look at this awesome deck and Jeff and Rob built. They did a fabulous job. Every inspector that came by our house could not believe that they did this themselves. I am so proud of both of them.



Not to mention that without our friends, Rob & Jane and their great kids, Robbie and Jordyn,
we could never have gotten moved in or had this beautiful deck done.

They had to leave to go back to Virginia and we miss them terribly, but we will forever be in their debt for helping us out. It is GREAT to have GREAT friends !! We are SO Lucky.......



Below is a picture of the living room and the doorway you see leads to the master bedroom.

This is the kitchen. Kind of a mess in the beginning but we are slowly making progress.

This is the dining room and the doors that lead to the deck out back.

The pic below needs NO explanation......had to have a new TV to go with the new house, right ?

And, last but not least, here are the pups - taking it all in stride - not a care in the world !!

Getting closer to moving in !

Thanks to Jeff and Rob - all the water and electrical work is done. We have power and water to the house!



Then the bricks and sand was delivered so we can get the block and stucco done for the underpinning to the house.




We have steps built, front and back, so we would have access to finally check out the inside.

The dormer was completed and the drywallers and painters are inside now - can't wait to see how it turns out. The underpinning was also completed and it looks awesome !

Jeff and Rob are out back now building our 20' x 30' deck. Can't wait until it is completed....

It's Here.......It's Here!!!

Yesterday we were surprised they were able to deliver our house. On Monday it was raining and we were cancelled and told it wouldn't be until the end of the week.

Then they call us Tuesday morning and tell us they are gonna give it a try.......




These guys work miracles. These trucks can turn that house in every direction.



We had to put down logs and concrete blocks to get it over our culvert. And then there were the trees to dodge.




They had to cut down a tree or two and trample a few others but they got it through the maze and headed out back.

After about an hour they got both halves out back and they get it to the exact spot we want it and begin to block it underneath.

They only got the front side blocked and leveled as the rains started again. Below is a picture of the front side.

Below is a picture of the back side. They hope to get it set up, leveled today and hopefully lift the roof into place today. (Please.........no rain...........)

From near the front of the property here is our house in place!

We are so very happy and can't wait for ALL the rest of the things we gotta do to begin.....

Update on the Home Front !

Well, Well, How time does fly!

This is our wedding picture taken fifteen years ago, the 13th of this month. It was a beautiful day and we had a beautiful (if not cold) anniversary.

We are preparing for our new home and that day is soon to arrive.......




As it turns out we get the call on Jeff's birthday last week to come take a look-see at the new house which just came off the assembly line.



In the picture below Jeff is exiting the front door after looking inside quickly. Unfortunately for us they could not put the dormer on the front of the house as we got a higher pitched roof and we were told they will have to build the dormer on site.

Below is a picture of the back of the house. From here you can see that the roof is hinged and is flipped on top of the house. The height is too much to go down the road.

The picture below shows Jeff looking in the other half of the house. They put a slit in the plastic so he could pop his head in and look at the kitchen and dining room area.

We are hoping they get to deliver the house the end of this week. We'll see!

The movers are coming out today to take a peek at the property to see if it is all ready.

Look what we woke up to.......

Ice on the RV awning and 28 degrees........



Pine trees bent over or broken.......




Ice on all the trees and no power by 11 AM.........

The Ford has ice everywhere, but it started up as the block heater was plugged in......

My poor little GMC Envoy is covered in ice..........

The grill is still functional, we hope, and now it is up to 30 degrees........

But alas, it is 4:05 PM and still no power. Lines down everywhere! Glad we have those two Honda generators..........
