Getting closer to moving in !

Thanks to Jeff and Rob - all the water and electrical work is done. We have power and water to the house!

Then the bricks and sand was delivered so we can get the block and stucco done for the underpinning to the house.

We have steps built, front and back, so we would have access to finally check out the inside.

The dormer was completed and the drywallers and painters are inside now - can't wait to see how it turns out. The underpinning was also completed and it looks awesome !

Jeff and Rob are out back now building our 20' x 30' deck. Can't wait until it is completed....

See ya down the road !!

It's Here.......It's Here!!!

Yesterday we were surprised they were able to deliver our house. On Monday it was raining and we were cancelled and told it wouldn't be until the end of the week.

Then they call us Tuesday morning and tell us they are gonna give it a try.......

These guys work miracles. These trucks can turn that house in every direction.

We had to put down logs and concrete blocks to get it over our culvert. And then there were the trees to dodge.

They had to cut down a tree or two and trample a few others but they got it through the maze and headed out back.

After about an hour they got both halves out back and they get it to the exact spot we want it and begin to block it underneath.

They only got the front side blocked and leveled as the rains started again. Below is a picture of the front side.

Below is a picture of the back side. They hope to get it set up, leveled today and hopefully lift the roof into place today. (Please.........no rain...........)

From near the front of the property here is our house in place!
We are so very happy and can't wait for ALL the rest of the things we gotta do to begin.....

See ya down the road ! -------eventually-------

Update on the Home Front !

Well, Well, How time does fly!

This is our wedding picture taken fifteen years ago, the 13th of this month. It was a beautiful day and we had a beautiful (if not cold) anniversary.

We are preparing for our new home and that day is soon to arrive.......

As it turns out we get the call on Jeff's birthday last week to come take a look-see at the new house which just came off the assembly line.

In the picture below Jeff is exiting the front door after looking inside quickly. Unfortunately for us they could not put the dormer on the front of the house as we got a higher pitched roof and we were told they will have to build the dormer on site.

Below is a picture of the back of the house. From here you can see that the roof is hinged and is flipped on top of the house. The height is too much to go down the road.

The picture below shows Jeff looking in the other half of the house. They put a slit in the plastic so he could pop his head in and look at the kitchen and dining room area.

We are hoping they get to deliver the house the end of this week. We'll see!

The movers are coming out today to take a peek at the property to see if it is all ready.
See ya down the road !

Look what we woke up to.......

Ice on the RV awning and 28 degrees........

Pine trees bent over or broken.......

Ice on all the trees and no power by 11 AM.........

The Ford has ice everywhere, but it started up as the block heater was plugged in......

My poor little GMC Envoy is covered in ice..........

The grill is still functional, we hope, and now it is up to 30 degrees........

But alas, it is 4:05 PM and still no power. Lines down everywhere! Glad we have those two Honda generators..........
See ya down the road !

New Year is off with a bang !

On the trip back to South Florida for the Holidays by 2002 GMC Envoy turned 100,000 miles on the odometer.

During our stay with relatives we met some neighbors on New Years Eve. Below is a picture of Jody and his mom, Delores.

I headed further south to South Miami to meet my friend, AL, for dinner.
We have been friends over 25 years.......

While in town I stopped over on New Years day to see Dr. Clifford Lakin and his wife, Arlene.
As you can see, we hit the bubbly!

I worked for Dr. Lakin for 30 years. He always called me his right hand wo-man...... I always appreciated that!

When we returned to the property in central Georgia we finally put up a mail box. Now, finally, the neighbors no longer have to intercept mail and packages for us.

We wish you a joyous and Happy New Year.
See ya down the road!

South Fla to see family !

We are here in Plantation, Florida for the Christmas Holiday. Look at our awesome Christmas tree......

My friend, Sherry, stopped by for a visit. We've been friends over 30 years!

Here is a picture of my mom, who is a little laid back today, enjoying a football game probably with her little doggie, GiGi.....

Below is a picture of Jeff and his mom, Laura. She is hosting this shin-dig and we are staying with her during our time here.

The picture here is of myself and my son, Larry. He still lives in Plantation and it was nice to see him again. (They grow up so fast)

As you can see in this picture below Jeff is carving up the ham and will start on the turkey next.

This picture below is of my mother-in-law again (Laura) and her boyfriend, Izzy.

And this goofy pic below is of my nephew, Jarrod, and his dad (my brother), Jamie. They are the trouble-makers in the family.
Missing is my niece, Chelsea, who is away at college in Tampa. She will join us in a few days though.

See ya down the road !

Things are moving along in Georgia

We are accomplishing things at the property in Georgia.

First things first though - we need to do laundry. This is set up in our garage.
But take note - it dropped to 16 degrees and the lines/valves in the washer froze up and broke and now we gotta order new parts when we get back from our Holiday in South Florida!

We bought a 8' x 12' utility/landscape trailer because of all the 'stuff' we had to haul off that was out in the woods. Boy there was a lot out there too!

Jeff cleaned out the shed behind the garage (you can see is behind the trailer here) and after throwing out some old stuff that had been in there for years; he built the little ledge to put the firewood in that we will definitely need when we get the new house.

Okay, we are OFF for the Holidays to visit family in South Florida. We'll be back in January 2011.
See ya down the road !
